Gastro-intestinal surgery
from a practical point of view
In this presentation gastro-intestinal surgery will be discussed from a practical point of view.
The most frequent indications for surgery will be presented as well as a brief summary of the relevant anatomy. The presentation aims to give an overview of difficulties to avoid and “tips and tricks”, that make surgery so much fun to do.
Your Instructor
Bart Sjollema graduated at the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, Utrecht University, The Netherlands in 1980.
After completing an internship and residency in soft tissue surgery he was a University staff member of the Department of Clinical Sciences of Companion Animals at Utrecht University for an additional 4,5 years.
He is recognised as a Specialist Small Animal Surgery of the KNMvD. (Royal Dutch Veterinary Association). In 1989 he was one of the founders of the first Amsterdam Referral Practice for Small Animals.
Since 2011 he is working at the Medisch Centrum voor Dieren in Amsterdam, one of the largest private referral centres in the Netherlands.
His work covers most of the current soft tissue procedures with a special focus of interest for perineal surgery.
